About The Natural Health Companion
The Natural Health Companion is an independent information resource covering homeopathy, herbal remedies, complementary therapies, and mind-body wellbeing. We aim to describe these practices plainly and represent the evidence honestly, including when it does not support popular claims.
What we do
Natural and complementary health is a broad, often confusing space, full of strong opinions on both sides. Our goal is simpler than taking a side: explain what a practice actually is, how it is used, and what independent research says about it, so you can make an informed choice for yourself, in partnership with your own healthcare provider.
What we are not
We are not a clinic, a retailer, or a directory of practitioners. We do not sell homeopathic or herbal products, and nothing on this site is a promotion or endorsement of any specific therapy as a treatment for disease. We are also not a substitute for professional medical advice.
Our approach to evidence
Where independent bodies such as Cochrane, the U.S. National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, the World Health Organization, or Australia's National Health and Medical Research Council have reached a clear conclusion about a therapy, we say so plainly, even where that conclusion is unflattering to the practice, as is the case with homeopathy. Where evidence is mixed or limited, we say that too, rather than rounding up to a firmer claim than the research supports. Read more on our editorial standards page.
A note on our history
This site's domain has previously hosted other, unrelated content. The Natural Health Companion, as it exists today, is a fresh, independent editorial project and is not a continuation of any previous site or organisation associated with this domain.
